What is an iHealthRecord and why do I need one?
Investing a few minutes today will save you time later and provide peace of mind
- The iHealthRecord is an interactive online personal health record that allows you to take
control of your personal health, as well as the health of an elderly parent, your children and
other loved ones.
- You can create, manage and share your personal health information with us, other physicians
or another caregiver.
- The iHealthRecord is your guarantee that your personal health information is readily available
in an emergency.
- An iHealthRecord ensures that your health information is safe and accessible from anywhere and
at anytime—especially helpful during an emergency. You can create and access the iHealthRecord from

How can I utilize my iHealthRecord to expedite my next physician
appointment?
- Before your next appointment, print an iHealth Registration form and bring it with you to
the office for your next appointment—saves you time!
- Review and update your iHealthRecord at least every 6 months to keep it current! Receive
reminders to help you keep your records up-to-date—provides peace of mind that your records
are accurate.
- Print a copy of your iHealthRecord—keeps your personal health history at your fingertips.
- Print a wallet card to keep your health information with you at all times— ensures you’re
prepared for an emergency.
How do I create an iHealthRecord?
Creating an iHealthRecord is easy!
- Go to www.holzerclinic.com and click on the iHealthRecord icon located on the middle left
of the home page screen.
- Complete the registration screen and click “Send Registration”. Be sure you complete all
required fields with a red asterisk (*) next to them.
- Now you are at your iHealth homepage. Click “iHealthRecord service” and read the information
in the yellow box. Click “Start” to input your health information and decide who can access your
iHealthRecord (i.e. family members, caregiver and physicians).
- At the completion screen, print a wallet card and then click on “Finish” to return to your
iHealthRecord overview screen for reviewing and editing your iHealthRecord at any time.
After registering, can I immediately use iHealth?
Yes. After registering, you'll receive an e-mail with the subject line
"Thank you for registering." You'll then be able to access the Education Center and your iHealth
Record.
Appointments and messages to your provider…
Your provider will receive notification that you have requested iHealth
registration and would like to use secure messaging. Once your provider approves your request,
you'll receive a secure message at the e-mail address you provided when registering. (This may
take a few days.) Then, you can begin using secure messaging and the appointment request option.
Receiving messages…
- The first time you access your Message Center, you'll be brought to the "Medem Terms of
Service." You will need to accept the terms of service before you can start using secure
messaging
- If you have new messages, there will be a link under the “Message Center” that reads
"You have x new message(s)." Be sure to add info@medem.com to your address book to receive
your messages.
Sending messages…
- After your provider acknowledges your registration you’ll be able to use secure messaging
- To send a message to your provider, go to the heading "Create a New Message" and choose
the type of message you'd like to send
How secure is my iHealthRecord?
The privacy of your iHealthRecord will be overseen by the iHealth Alliance,
a not-for-profit advisory Board whose mission it is to protect the privacy of physicians and patients.
You can rest assured that America’s healthcare leadership is protecting your privacy.
You can rest assured that your record is completely confidential. Only you decide who views your
record—including which physicians— and only you can change it. Create an iHealthRecord for you and
your family and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your health information is safe
and accessible from anywhere and at any time.
What is Online Consultation?
Coming in for an office visit is not always convenient and has a real cost
to you. In addition to the inconvenience, co-payments, gas and parking, lost wages, child care and
other costs for office visits add up. Holzer Clinic is sensitive to these costs and understands
your time is valuable. While some healthcare issues require an office visit, such as new symptoms,
there are many occasions when you can receive just as much, or more, individualized information—
without a face-to-face meeting—through the use of our secure e-mail service—Online Consultation.
Our Online Consultation secure e-mail service, and the modest fee of $25 we may charge*, is
designed for your convenience. It can save you time and money when your questions can be answered
effectively online. Online Consultation may not be the ideal service for all patients, but it will
serve the needs of many and we are happy to offer this service.
*We will never charge you a fee for any Online Consultation without prior notice, and in some
cases the information will be provided at no charge.
What is Secure Messaging?
Secure messaging (secure e-mail) is a new service that allows you to
contact our practice without having to pick up the phone or make an in-person visit to the office.
Use secure messaging from the convenience of your computer, and without the inconvenience of a
phone call or travel to the physician office. Gain direct access to secure messaging with your
physician from the log-in icon located on your physician’s page on the www.holzerclinic.com website.
Some specific examples include:
- Follow-up advice about your current medical situation already evaluated by your physician
- Gathering educational information on options
- Reviewing test results with suggestions for further evaluation or therapy
- Obtain and discuss results from our Advanced Laboratory
When should I use Secure Messaging?
Secure Messaging is only intended to be used for general administrative
purposes. If you would like to ask a clinical question, you should use our Online Consultation
service, which may have a modest fee associated with it. Examples of clinical questions more
appropriate for Online Consultation include:
- make or reschedule an appointment
- request a prescription refill
- Get advice about your current medical situation
- Gather information on treatment options
- Review test results with suggestions for further evaluation or therapy
Secure Messaging and Online Consultation
should never be used for Medical Emergencies!
Why should I use Secure Messaging?
Secure messaging eliminates phone calls that take more time than sending
a secure e-mail—you can contact us when it’s convenient for you. No more waiting on hold. Access
answers to routine, non-urgent, requests and questions from the comfort of your home or office.
It provides you a written record of your messages that you can save or print and refer back to.
Respecting your privacy is extremely important to us. Rest assured that your Secure Messages
are protected by secure encryption technology.
