What brought you to
Holzer Clinic, Benny?
I knew when I was still just a cub that I was a people person — in a bear sort of way. I’d hang around campgrounds and join the boys fishing on the Ohio River. I thought I’d grow up to be a guide or join the Forest Service like a lot of my relatives. Mom even got me a junior ranger’s hat.

So what changed your mind?
You may have noticed this blue business. Well, I discovered in the most surprising way that I have a berry allergy — very bad for a bear. One blueberry hors d’oeuvre, and…well you can see that I had to start thinking outside the forest.

Did that bring you
to Holzer Clinic?
Not right away. I tried show business, but I’m not one to claw my way to the top. Then I tried investments, where bears are everywhere. Nothing felt right. Then I took stock and asked myself, “Benny,” I asked, “what happened to that people bear you started out to be?”

And Holzer Clinic
was the answer?
Growing up around here, I’ve known about Holzer Clinic since, well, forever. You’d have to be stuck really, really deep in the woods not to know that they set the standard for medical care. That’s it, I thought. That’s where I belong. And I was in luck. Their Blue Fuzzy Bear position was open.

How is it working out?
While I was dozing through last winter, I dreamed of finding everything I was after at Holzer Clinic. And guess what? I have.
I love being part of Holzer Clinic, and telling everyone what a great place it is. I think the clinic saw something in me that made them decide, yes, this guy will be noticed. And am I glad. If I could, I’d be tickled pink.
