March 15, 2010, Gallipolis - Holzer Heart Run and Walk is quickly approaching! Last year was the first year this event took place and resulted in an excellent turnout. (This year the aim is bigger and better!) We have several events scheduled for April 24, 2010 including a 1 mile kid’s fun run, 10k run, 5k run, and 5k walk. There will be awards based on age groups, categories, and teams.

Each race will begin and end at Holzer Clinic Sycamore Branch in Gallipolis, Ohio. The course will then take you through the beautiful grounds of the Gallipolis Development Center. This is not a certified course. Along the course there will be paved and untreated roads with some elevation changes. There is a walk/run club that is meeting every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 starting in the parking lots between our Holzer Clinic facilities located at Fourth and Sycamore Streets in Gallipolis to help you prepare for the race.

We are proud to hold this event in honor of survivors of cardiac events such as: heart attack, valve replacement, bypasses surgery, stent placement, or stroke. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross of Gallia County, helping to serve those in the local community during times of need.

There are two ways to register for The Holzer Heart Run. Your first option is to go to the link on the right side of the page at www.holzerclinic.com and print out the registration form and mail it to the location listed. You can also register online at www.active.com. Pre-registration will be closing on www.active.com on April 10, and mail-ins should be postmarked by April 17. Anyone who wants to participate that does not pre-register; you can register the day of the race. Registration will begin at 7:00am with events kicking off at 8:00am.
