Nuclear Medicine is a safe, painless procedure in which a radioactive isotope is
injected intravenously and images are obtained simultaneously documenting organ function
and structure. It is used in the diagnosis, management, treatment, and prevention of
serious disease. Nuclear Medicine procedures can identify abnormalities very early in the
progression of a disease; therefore, allowing it to be treated early in its course.
