The diagnosis and treatment of children or adults exhibiting speech or language impairments.
Speech Language Pathologists treat a wide variety of age groups and disorders. The goal is
to increase the patient's speech language voice or swallowing abilities to a more independent
level. The most common child diagnoses consist of articulation/speech delays, language delays,
genetic disorders/syndromes, swallowing/feeding problems, hearing impairments, voice disorders,
traumatic brain injury, and central auditory processing deficits. The most common adult diagnoses
are cerebral vascular accidents (strokes), traumatic brain injury, voice disorders, and swallowing
problems.
